COACH ANDREW BASCOME
Andrew Bascome is widely considered Bermuda’s best football coach and one of Bermuda’s best ever football players. Andrew represented Bermuda as a player and later as a coach in many matches and international competitions. In his desire to be a top football coach, Andrew started his coach education whilst still a player, taking a number of FIFA Coaching Courses in the early 1980’s. His coach education journey would take him to Brazil, Florida-USA, Spain, Scotland, England and to France, where he would work with top coach educators at Clairfontaine (the French National Football Federation training center), FC Sochaux and St. Etienne. Andrew has worked with top youth football coaches from Valencia FC, both in Valencia, Spain and on his staff at his club in Bermuda.
Andrew has won every major competition in Bermuda, several times over, with a number of senior and youth football programs and has achieved amazing results as Bermuda’s National coach at the youth and senior level. He holds the UEFA B license and is a candidate for the UEFA A license. Andrew founded ABC Football School in 2010 to develop football in Bermuda through education of coaches, clubs and youth players. He worked closely with Jacques Crevoisier (former French National Coach, Liverpool FC First team coach and UEFA Coach educator) to produce the Bermuda Coaching Handbook designed for Grassroots football to Under 10 Coaches. Subsequent books directed to Under 12 to Under 14 and Under 16 to Under 18 were later published. Andrew worked closely with Jacques Crevoisier and Henrik Schroder to initiate and deliver the UEFA C license and B license to Bermudian / Local coaches. These courses are now delivered under the umbrella of the Bermuda Football Coaches Association, of which Andrew is one of the founding members.

To be part of Bascome Football Company means so much to me, not only as a Coach but an individual. Since being here, I’ve not only seen this program grow but myself. I joined in 2011 when I was only 18 and in the process of finishing Bermuda College with the assistance of BYF. I never thought I’d be in the position that I’m in now with the organization and my own professional development. I’m so grateful for the opportunity given to represent Bermuda Youth Football and I take it very seriously. Being with BYF has given me, not only the courage, but freedom to do my part in enhancing football in Bermuda.

Goals: To both physically and mentally prepare our young players for the demands of higher level competition, whether that may be a pro career or the college route. I want to provide them with knowledge and opportunities that I feel are important to their success as a footballer.
Bascome Football Company is important to me because I owe much of my personal and footballing success to this program. I was a part of the program from age 11, until the time I moved on to senior football. I am grateful to now have the opportunity to give back and help grow the program and its players even further.
